1st week in Lejeune
After many days of sitting around and waiting to be told to sit around and wait some more, we finally made it to Lejeune. The chow hall is about a mile away from the barracks (really that is all Marines care about is chow). This means we get a few more dollars a day while I am activated. I think I am now making a whopping 1.64 an hour (Marines care about pay as well). We got a bit of time off this past weekend and went to the beach. Yes there was a small tropical storm, but eh who cares? I'll try to post the pictures later. For those of you waiting on an address, I've been given an address and is has changed twice in just as many days. I think I'll wait till they get it right before I post it
Photos from beach excursion (actually mostly us just getting stuck).

Hi Will! Good to hear from you! So the government sets minimum wage guidelines and pays its gov't. employees less than the minimum? Why do they pay you more money because of the location of the mess hall? What are your quarters like--do you have one roommate or a whole room full of roommates? What do they have you do all day? Take care of yourself. Barb Novak
No I am sure I make more than minimum wage. I was being over zealous in my mental calculations. It all stems from we are a Marine 24 hours a day. I could have a formation in 10 minutes (its 11pm) and that is ok. I am on the clock! In Lejeune I have 1 other roomate of the same rank. It could be as many as 3 per room total, but I guess I got lucky. We started working in the shop today. I picked up a circuit card, wondered what it belonged too. I decided it didn't overall matter and went to showing the LCpl beside me how to use the test equipment we have at our stations.

What is this "-E" you sign your name with? Have they broken you of the use your first name so soon???

Will,
Wanted to thank you for your awesome Monkey Bread recipe. I made it for the school end of the year breakfast this morning, and well...people were just attacking it. They said it was the best thing on the table, and believe me there was lots of competition. About a dozen people want the recipe, so I promised to put it on our email at school tomorrow. Anyway, you were a big hit for that! Bet you could use some monkey bread for breakfast out in LeJeune! Also heard today that cousin Richard has graduated in Paris Island, is on R&R right now and will be coming to LeJeune this Thursday! Maybe you'll see him. : ) Barb Novak
No not at all, my internet connectioned died 3 times in the time it took me to post the message, so the second time I was typing it I just simplified alot of text :)

So glad to hear you're demonostrating your outstanding database skills to the USMC so they can give you ALL the database tasks. Maybe they need a "Will program" to run the shop? Take care!
I had no idea you were enjoying a beach holiday! Loved your pictures of the V8 "dune buggy". : ) Now I'd love to see pictures of a mess hall, a Marine dorm room, and the communications repair place--if you're allowed to take photos there. Thanks for the cool pictures! Barb Novak
I can take a few photos of these things :) I'll work on them this week. I can't take a picture of our shop because of some of the gear we work on. It is why all of the techs have government security clearances :)
